HP OpenView Network Node Manager Version 7.5
Integrates SNMP Security Pack
Knoxville, TN, June 2004 -- At the recent HP Software Forum conference
in Montréal, Québec, Canada, Hewlett-Packard announced that
the upcoming HP OpenView Network Node
Manager* (NNM) 7.5
release will include enhanced support for secure
management using SNMPv3, through enhanced integration with SNMP Research's
SNMP Security PackTM product.
NNM and SNMP Security Pack have combined
to provide support for secure SNMPv3 for several years. With the NNM 7.5
release, the “extended topology” services included in NNM Advanced Edition
(AE) have also been integrated with SNMP Security Pack. This means that all
capabilities of NNM are now tightly integrated with SNMP Security Pack, and
that NNM functions transparently with devices which have SNMPv3 agents.
SNMP Security
PackTM is a protocol adapter product
which adds SNMPv3 support to NNM. SNMP Security Pack includes a configuration
application to remotely configure SNMPv3 user credentials, access rights, and
keys on the managed nodes. SNMP Security Pack is available for all platforms
supported by NNM.
The business model remains unchanged: customers will license NNM from HP or
an HP Channel Partner, and SNMP Security Pack from SNMP Research or an SNMP
Research Channel Partner. HP and SNMP Research continue to work together to
provide innovation solutions for standards-based Internet management.
