Las Vegas, NV, May 8, 2000 - SNMP Research announces that EnterPol has been added to their SecureIntelligence family of products. EnterPol is a policy-based management station that includes an integrated collection of programs, processes, databases, and Java applications that form a solid technological foundation for cooperating management applications. Policy-based management is made possible by the important enabling technology of SNMPv3, which allows for safe, remote configuration. Because of the ability to configure safely and remotely, the ability to use intelligent agents is made possible. EnterPol is designed to take full advantage of SNMPv3 by offering intelligent, policy-based management and by fully integrating with CIAgent, an intelligent agent that is another member of the SecureIntelligence product family. These products work together to provide seamless Internet management, including not only the network, but also the systems connected to the network, the applications which run on those systems, and the services provided by those applications. EnterPol also incorporates the two initial members in the PolicyPro family of tools: the Simple PolicyPro and the CIAgent PolicyPro. The Simple PolicyPro provides network-wide management of SNMP security and administration (SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3). The Simple PolicyPro automatically distributes usernames, passwords, access rights, trap destinations, etc. The Simple PolicyPro also incorporates step-by-step wizards to help with easy configuration and distribution. The Simple PolicyPro can manage event overload by configuring agents to send only the notifications that are of interest, thereby filtering unwanted notifications via source-side suppression of event notifications. The second PolicyPro tool, the CIAgent PolicyPro, provides network-wide management of systems, applications, and services. CIAgent PolicyPro presents a simple, user-friendly interface for configuring multiple CIAgents. CIAgent, a secure SNMP agent, allows the user to monitor the health of systems, applications, and services. The administrator can configure one or many agents, as well as distribute existing configurations to multiple agents located throughout the network. EnterPol is standards-based, implementing the Internet Standard Management Framework based on SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3, as well as many standard MIB modules. Commercial-grade security and ease of administration is also provided, while continuing to support SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c for use in multi-lingual environments. EnterPol is a member of the SecureIntelligence family of products. SecureIntelligence is a suite of products designed to manage networks, systems, and applications. By combining the Internet Standard Management Framework, the security features of SNMPv3, and the ease of a Web interface, this Java-enabled management software suite provides secure, standards-based monitoring and control.
